EUROPEAN journalists travel to the heart of ARAGON WINES

#aSharedPassion ♥

Journalists from Poland, the Netherlands, Latvia, and Sweden traveled to Aragon from June 25 to 30 to discover the origins of its wine and the projects underway in Aragon’s Protected Designations of Origin. Additionally, they tried a sample of the wines made at the wineries in these designations of origin.

The purpose of the press trip—which was organized by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization (OIVE)—was to learn more about the exciting world of Spanish wines: the know-how of the producers from the different regions and the long tradition behind our country’s winemaking activity.

During the visit, the journalists attended a masterclass taught by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (UEC) in Madrid, which included a guided tasting of some of the representative varieties of Spanish wines.

Additionally, they visited the Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) of Cariñena Calatayud and Campo de Borja.

They also toured Pago Ayles, a winemaking project that was recognized in 2021 with its own Pago Designation of Origin (a designation of origin recognizing the unique features of a particular vineyard or estate), and they enjoyed a dinner with wine pairings from the Somontano DO at the renowned restaurant Vinoteca García de la Navarra in Madrid.

To end the trip, the group of experts attended the “Best Young Wines of Spain Fair” in Madrid, which was organized by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (UEC).

This is one of several trips organized by the Spanish Wine Interprofessional Organization (OIVE) as part of the program A Shared Passion, which is being implemented along with the Portuguese Wine Interprofessional Organization (ViniPortugal). European journalists will visit the major winemaking regions of both countries to learn more about their activity.
