EUROPEAN PRODUCTION MODEL
the PRODUCTION MODEL behind OUR WINES
#aSharedPassion ♥
Wine is a natural product, and that’s why it changes every year depending on the characteristics of the harvest. The soil, climate, geology, varieties and winemaking techniques are decisive, yet variable factors that give each wine a unique character and personality.
What is common to all of them is how they are produced, i.e., following the strict controls and quality standards of the European Production Model. This model provides the strongest guarantee in the world with regard to traceability, food safety and sustainability. All of this is done to ensure that only safe, sustainable wines of the highest quality reach your table.
THE EUROPEAN WINEMAKING SECTOR, BY THE NUMBERS
The EU is the largest producer, consumer, exporter and importer of wine in the world, and it represents:
-
- 45% of the world’s winemaking regions
- 59% of worldwide wine production
- 48% of worldwide wine consumption
- 70% of all wine exports
A PILLAR OF THE EUROPEAN ECONOMY
The winemaking sector in Spain and Portugal plays an essential role in the economic, social and environmental sustainability of many of our villages, generating thousands of jobs, directly and indirectly, which go beyond the vineyards and wineries and which prevent rural depopulation.
Additionally, this positive impact is not limited to producer countries like Spain and Portugal. It also contributes to the economy in the rest of Europe though activities such as transport, logistics, marketing and sales.
