The wine regions of the SPANISH LEVANTE win the recognition of the EUROPEAN PRESS
#aSharedPassion ♥
Between 17 and 21 June, five wine journalists from the Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland and Poland had the opportunity to explore the main Designations of Origin present in the Spanish Levante region, thanks to a Study Trip organised by the “Organización Interprofesional del Vino de España” (OIVE) through the provinces of Valencia and Alicante, and the Region of Murcia.
After attending a masterclass in Madrid by “Unión Española de Catadores” (UEC), which introduced them to the country’s oenological reality, the five members of the European press travelled to the Valencian Community to get to know the wines of the DO Valencia in situ, starting with two prestigious wineries, Celler del Roure and Casa Los Frailes. These visits were followed by a tasting with a broad representation of what the area has to offer.
The following day, they discovered the Utiel-Requena DO, where they were able to visit two projects such as the Bodegas Coviñas cooperative and Bodegas Hispano-Suizas. And finally, they immersed themselves in the Jumilla DO, first with a tasting and then with a visit to the Viñas Familia Gil facilities (Juan Gil and El Nido), as well as in the Alicante DO through a themed dinner.
This study trip is part of a busy schedule of trips by wine journalists and other professionals from the world of wine to the Iberian wine regions, launched as part of the European programme ‘A Shared Passion’. In fact, this is no less than the tenth trip carried out in Spain, in addition to three in Portugal.
