The Grand FINAL JOURNEY of A Shared Passion: 21 EUROPEAN Journalists Explore 9 Regions of SPAIN and PORTUGAL to Delve into Their QUALITY and VERSATILITY
#aSharedPassion ♥
A great campaign like A Shared Passion, which over the past three years has united the wine trade associations of Spain and Portugal to promote the quality of their wines in Europe, deserved to culminate with a grand Study Trip. And so it did. Between December 8 and 13, more than twenty journalists from seven European countries traveled over 1,000 kilometers between Madrid and Porto, visiting and discovering some of the border wine regions that best express this shared passion between the two countries.
Specifically, the 21 communicators came from some of the most important markets for the wine sectors in Spain and Portugal within the European Union: the Netherlands, Poland, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, and Hungary. Most of them are professionals specialized in the world of wine, writing for or appearing in leading magazines and programs in their countries.
After a masterclass at the Spanish Union of Tasters (UEC) and a gala dinner in the capital, the journey stopped at the Sierra de Salamanca PDO, Arribes DO, Bierzo DO, Valdeorras DO, and Monterrei DO, also visiting several wineries in these regions.
The trip then continued in Portugal, starting with a dinner featuring wines provided by CVR Vinhos Verdes, followed by visits to two Douro wineries, one Vinhos Verdes winery, and one Porto winery. Finally, the journey concluded with a VIP dinner in Porto, featuring a selection of wines provided by the CVRs of Beira Interior and Bairrada.
