The winemaking sector in Spain and Portugal<\/strong> contributes to the social and environmental sustainability of Europe<\/strong>, guaranteeing the future of many rural areas, creating thousands of jobs<\/strong> that prevent their depopulation<\/strong> and conserving the environment, protecting against soil erosion<\/strong> and helping to prevent forest fires<\/strong>, thanks to the low density of vine rootstock, which hampers the spread of fire.<\/p>\n

Additionally, thanks to the new strategy implemented by the European Union \u201cFrom Farm to Fork\u201d<\/strong>, based on sustainability<\/strong> and caring for the environment<\/strong>, the Spanish and Portuguese winemaking sectors have prioritised sustainable production<\/strong> and ensuring the quality and safety of European wines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

To that end, in recent years, the European winemaking industry has made a concerted effort to develop new production models<\/strong> that help make production processes more efficient, thereby reducing the sector’s environmental impact.<\/strong><\/p>\n
